CNB officers find 466g of heroin hidden inside fire extinguisher at Jurong East flat

Seven suspected drug offenders, aged between 26 and 48, were arrested by the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) on May 18.

According to a May 19 CNB press release, the suspects consists of six man and one woman.

They were arrested during two operations conducted by CNB officers on May 18.

The total amount of drugs seized included:

  • 2,287g of heroin
  • 5,041g of 'Ice'
  • 6g of cannabis
  • 1g of ketamine
  • over 630g of Ecstasy tablets
  • 201 Erimin-5 tablets
  • one lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) stamp

Cash amounting to S$4,585 was also seized.

CNB said that the drugs seized are estimated to be worth close to S$850,000.

1st operation: Jurong East

Two Singaporean men arrested

In the late evening of May 18, CNB officers raided a residential unit in the vicinity of Jurong East Avenue 1.

Two Singaporean men, 26 and 28, were arrested.

A search was conducted, and a total of about 466g of heroin and about 7g of 'Ice' were seized from the unit.

Various drug paraphernalia and cash amounting to S$4,585 were also recovered.

Prior to the arrest, CNB said that substances believed to be controlled drugs were suspected to have been discarded out of the unit's window.

Officers later recovered the substances, which totalled to about 1,821g of heroin and 518g of 'Ice'.

2nd operation: Chai Chee Street and Lorong Limau

Three Singaporean men arrested

In another operation conducted in the same evening, CNB officers arrested three Singaporean men, aged 48, 26, and 31.

They were arrested at a residential block in the vicinity of Chai Chee Street.

About 55g of 'Ice' were recovered from the 48-year-old man.

On the other hand, the 26-year-old man was escorted to another location in the same block where about 3g 'Ice' were recovered.

According to CNB, the 31-year-old man had put up a violent struggle when officers moved in to arrest him.

Necessary force was used to subdue him. A search was also conducted on him, and about 25g of ‘Ice’ were recovered from him.

Another Singaporean man and one female Singapore PR arrested

In the same evening, in a follow-up operation from the earlier arrests, CNB officers arrested another 31-year-old Singaporean man in the vicinity of Lorong Limau.

He was brought to his residence in the same vicinity, where a 27-year-old female Singapore Permanent Resident (PR) was subsequently arrested in the same unit.

A search was conducted, and a total of about 4,346g of 'Ice', about 6g of cannabis, about 1g of ketamine, more than 630g of Ecstasy tablets, 201 Erimin-5 tablets, one LSD stamp and various drug paraphernalia were seized from the residential unit.

The man was also escorted to his vehicle in the same vicinity, where about 87g of 'Ice' were further recovered.

Investigations ongoing

Investigations into the drug activities of all the suspects are ongoing, said CNB.

CNB added that the total amount of 2,287g of heroin that had been seized in the operation is sufficient to feed the addiction of about 1,090 abusers for a week, while the total amount of 5,041g of ‘Ice’ seized is sufficient to feed the addiction of about 2,880 abusers for a week.
