Hawker concept in town

A hawker concept called Hawkers' Street by food service provider Select Group is opening at ION Orchard very soon, according to 8 Days.

Hawkers' Street offers a collection of famous hawkers under one roof, Select Group's website indicated.

While it seems to be still under renovation, the concept is expected to look like a "1960s street dining scene in Singapore".

For now, Hawkers Street will be home to six popular eateries.

Ann Chin Handmade Popiah

As its name suggests, Ann Chin Handmade Popiah is known for its hand-rolled popiah chockful with fresh ingredients including eggs and shrimp.

It was also awarded the Michelin Plate in 2019.

The popiah eatery has nine outlets, including the ones at Sin Ming Road and Coronation Shopping Plaza.

Famous Eunos Bak Chor Mee

Famous Eunos Bak Chor Mee is a family-run chain with a bak chor mee recipe that transcends four generations.

They have three outlets, including me at Chinatown Food Street and Eunos Crescent.

Jian Bo Tiong Bahru Shui Kueh

A popular chain with 20 outlets, they are known for their light-tasting chwee kueh.

They also have other snacks including layer cake, siew mai and chee cheong fun.

King of Fried Rice

A newcomer in relative to the other hawkers, King of Fried Rice really needs no introduction.

It is famed for its affordably priced Din Tai Fung-style fried rice with pork cutlet.

Nam Sing Hokkien Mee

This Hokkien mee is highly raved about and often has long queues formed at its Old Airport Road hawker stall.

According to 8 Days, it is run by three brothers and is known for its prawn and ikan bilis stock-infused bee hoon and yellow noodles.

Beach Road Scissor-Cut Curry Rice

This humble stall is located at a coffee shop in Jalan Besar.

It is known for its scissor-cut ingredients including pork chop, ngoh hiang and more laid on top of white rice and drenched generously with Hainanese curry.

Coming soon

While details are still scant, ION Orchard's website said that it will be at the basement four level of the relatively upscale shopping mall.
