JEM and Westgate are closed till June 5, 2021 after a spike of Covid-19 cases among mall visitors.
However, for some reason, an order for an eatery at Westgate managed to go through via food delivery app foodpanda.
Delivery order from closed mall
In a tweet on May 26, foodpanda delivery rider @ziataffazal shared his encounter in trying to cancel this specific order.
Why are the customer agents always like this? Can y'all stop outsourcing it do a centre that lack common sense @foodpandasg pic.twitter.com/UwyEWxjYrm

Upon realising that he had to pick up an order at a closed mall, the rider reached out to a foodpanda dispatch agent and requested to cancel the order.
When asked regarding the issue, he explained: "Hello the whole mall closed... The mall closed how can the shop be open."
Unfortunately, it seems like the dispatch agent was not aware of the mall's closure, and asked to provide a picture of the closed vendor... which is located inside the mall.
When the rider explained yet again that he could not do so because the mall is closed, the dispatch agent apologised and added that she will not be able to cancel the order as it has already been accepted.
Asked to go to vendor
Instead, she asked for him to approach the vendor before seeking assistance again, and emphasised that she was not allowed to cancel the order.
Order finally cancelled
Speaking to Mothership, a spokesperson from foodpanda shared that the dispatch agent was following protocol.
They also confirmed that the order has been cancelled after a picture of the mall's closed entrance was provided.
"In this particular instance, the agent was following protocol — which is to cancel the order only after a picture of the closed restaurant/mall is provided by the rider.
Internal investigations have shown that the order was cancelled by the foodpanda dispatch agent after a picture of the mall’s closed entrance was provided, which is in accordance with standard operating procedures."
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
