Eng’s Wantan Noodles has been suspended from May 18 after 13 people came down with gastroenteritis symptoms.
The suspension will be in place until further notice, said the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) in a joint release on May 18.
Those who fell ill are linked to the shop at 287 Tanjong Katong Road and had consumed food prepared there between May 14 and 16.
None of them were hospitalised and they either sought outpatient treatment, self-medicated, or recovered without treatment.
All food handlers there are required to re-attend and pass the Food Safety Course Level 1 and test negative for foodborne pathogens, before they can resume work as food handlers.
The appointed food hygiene officer working at the premises is also required to re-attend and pass a course before resuming work.
Eng's Wantan Noodles is also required to clean and sanitise the premises, including equipment and utensils.
SFA added it will not hesitate to take firm action against anyone found to be in violation of the Environmental Public Health Act.
In the interest of maintaining a high standard of food hygiene at all eating establishments, SFA is advising members of the public who come across poor hygiene practices in food establishments not to patronise such outlets and provide feedback via the online feedback form (https://csp.sfa.gov.sg/feedback) or to call our SFA Contact Centre at 68052871 with details for our follow-up investigations.
