Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong addressed the nation on Monday (May 31), updating the public on the next steps to take for the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

One of the demographics he touched on was the elderly. PM Lee praised their response so far, noting that nearly three quarters of Singapore's elderly – 760,000 senior citizens aged 60 and above – have had at least one jab or booked a slot.

He however asked the remaining 280,000 who had not yet booked appointments to come forward to get jabbed as soon as possible.

Those above 60 can get vaccinated on the spot

To make the process even more convenient for the remaining elderly who have not booked their slot, PM Lee announced that those above 60 can walk into any vaccination centre and get vaccinated on the spot.

That means there is no need to register, and no need to book in advance.

For those who are not mobile, or are unable to make their way to one of the centres, they can contact the Silver Generation Office, who will send over a doctor and nurse to give the vaccination at their home.

He also urged those with elderly parents or relatives, to encourage and persuade them to get vaccinated.
