5 primary school students test positive for Covid-19 after tuition classes at Parkway Centre

The students are between seven and nine years old.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) has reported 52 new cases of Covid-19 infection in Singapore on Thursday, May 14.

There are 24 new cases in the community, of whom 20 are linked to previous cases.

Amongst them, 16 had already been placed on quarantine earlier.

20 linked to previous cases

Of the 20 cases reported to be linked to the previous cases:

  • Five are linked to Case 63131, the private tutor at Learning Point Parkway Centre
  • One is linked to Case 63096, an operating theatre nurse at Sengkang General Hospital
  • One is linked to Case 62541, a nurse at Tan Tock Seng Hospital
  • 13 are linked to Case 62873, a cleaner at Changi Airport Terminal 3

Here are the details of the five cases linked to the Learning Point private tutor:

Case 63184

  • Nine-year-old S'porean male student at St Stephen's School
  • Attended Case 63131's classes at Learning Point located at Parkway Centre
  • Developed a fever on May 11 and sought treatment at a GP on May 12
  • Didn't go to school after onset of symptoms
  • Quarantined on May 12 after he was identified as a close contact of Case 63131
  • Tested for Covid-19 on May 13 and test result came back positive on the same day
  • Serology test result is pending

Case 63185

  • Nine-year-old S'porean female student at Kong Hwa School
  • Attended Case 63131's classes at Learning Point located at Parkway Centre
  • Developed a fever on May 12 and sought treatment at a GP on the same day
  • Didn't go to school after onset of symptoms
  • Quarantined on May 12 after she was identified as a close contact of Case 63131
  • Tested for Covid-19 on May 13 and test result came back positive on the same day
  • Serology test result is pending

Case 63186

  • Nine-year-old S'porean male student at St Andrew's Junior School
  • Attended Case 63131's classes at Learning Point located at Parkway Centre
  • Developed a fever on May 11 while in school and sought treatment at a GP on May 12
  • Quarantined on May 12 after he was identified as a close contact of Case 63131
  • Tested for Covid-19 on May 13 and test result came back positive on the same day
  • Serology test result is pending

Case 63187

  • Eight-year-old S'porean male student at Kong Hwa School
  • Attended Case 63131's classes at Learning Point located at Parkway Centre
  • Developed a fever on May 11 while he was in school and sought treatment at a polyclinic on the same day
  • Quarantined on May 12 after he was identified as a close contact of Case 63131
  • Tested for Covid-19 on May 12 and test result came back positive on the May 13
  • Serology test result is pending

Case 63188

  • Seven-year-old S'porean male student at St Stephen's School
  • Attended Case 63131's classes at Learning Point located at Parkway Centre
  • Developed a runny nose on May 11 but did not seek medical treatment
  • Quarantined on May 12 after he was identified as a close contact of Case 63131
  • Tested for Covid-19 on May 13 and test result came back positive on the same day
  • Serology test result is pending

28 imported cases

The 28 imported cases, arriving from countries such India, Indonesia, South Korea, the UK, Thailand, Nepal, Papua New Guinea, Bangladesh and the Philippines.

All had already been placed on Stay Home Notice (SHN) upon arrival in Singapore and were tested while serving SHN.

The arrivals from the Indian sub-continent had already come into Singapore before the restrictions on travel were imposed.

18 more cases discharged

18 more cases of Covid-19 infection have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities.

Here are more local Covid-19 statistics:

  • 61,047 have fully recovered and have been discharged
  • 180 cases are still in hospital, three are in the ICU
  • 247 are isolated at community facilities
  • 31 have passed away from complications due to Covid-19 infection

New locations visited by cases during infectious period

Over 45 new locations were added to the list of public places visited by cases in the community during infectious period.

The new places are highlighted in yellow.
