5 unlinked Covid-19 cases in S'pore on May 30 include a delivery driver & homemaker

19 new community cases were reported.

Five unlinked Covid-19 cases were reported by the Ministry of Health (MOH) on Sunday, May 30.

In total, there were 25 new Covid-19 cases reported. Of these, there are 19 community cases, of whom 14 are linked to previous cases. In addition, there are six imported cases.

This brings the total number of cases to 62,028.

Five unlinked cases

There are five unlinked cases among the new cases in the community. Here are the details:

1. Delivery driver

Case 63865 is a 37 year-old male India national who works as a delivery driver with CCG Logistics Pte Ltd.

He is asymptomatic, and was detected when he was tested on May 27 as part of Rostered Routine Testing (RRT). His pooled test result came back positive for Covid-19 on the same day.

An individual test was done on May 28, and his test result came back positive for Covid-19 infection on the same day. His earlier tests from RRT – the last being on May 13 – were all negative for Covid-19 infection. His serology test result is positive.

2. A retiree

Case 63868 is a 59 year-old male India national who is a retiree. He arrived from India on Jan. 25 to visit his Singaporean child, and served SHN at a dedicated facility until Feb. 8.

His pre-departure test taken in India on January 23, as well as on arrival test in Singapore on Jan. 25, were negative for Covid-19 infection. Another test taken during SHN on Feb. 7 was also negative.

He is asymptomatic, and was detected when he took a Covid-19 pre-departure test on May 27 in preparation for his return trip to India.

His test result came back positive for Covid-19 infection on May 28. His serology test result is positive, which is indicative of a past infection. However, MOH has classified this case as locally transmitted and taken all necessary public health actions as they are unable to rule out that he had been infected in Singapore.

3. Warehouse assistant

Case 63872 is a 22 year-old male Singaporean who works as a warehouse assistant at Keppel Logistics Pte Ltd.

He developed a cough and sore throat on May 28 and sought medical treatment at a General Practitioner (GP) clinic on May 29, where he underwent both an antigen rapid test (ART) and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test, and was immediately isolated when his ART result came back positive.

His PCR test result also came back positive for Covid-19 infection on the same day. His serology test result is negative.

4. Employee at Nur Insan

Case 63876 is a 35 year-old male Singaporean who works at Nur Insan.

He developed a fever and cough on May 29 and sought medical treatment at a GP clinic on the same day. He underwent both an ART and PCR test, and both test results came back positive for Covid-19 infection on May 29. His serology test result is negative.

5. Homemaker

Case 63887 is a 65 year-old female Singaporean who is a homemaker.

She developed a fever and sore throat on May 29, and sought medical treatment at a GP clinic on the same day, where she underwent both an ART and PCR test.

Her ART result came back negative, and she stayed at home while waiting for her PCR test result which came back positive for Covid-19 infection on May 30. Her serology test result is pending.

13 linked community cases

There are 13 new community cases linked to previously reported Covid-19 clusters and cases.

Of these cases:

  • Five are linked to the NTUC Foodfare cluster at 308 Anchorvale Road
  • One is linked to the Chevy's Bar and Bistro cluster
  • One is linked to the JEM/Westgate cluster
  • One is linked to the McDonald's delivery riders cluster
  • Two are linked to the Case 63446 cluster. Case 63446 is a 28-year-old male Singaporean who works as an engineer at Patec Ptd Ltd. His PCR test result came back positive for Covid-19 infection on May 18.
  • Three are linked to the Case 63757 cluster. Case 63757 is a 67-year-old male Singaporean who is a retiree. His PCR test result came back positive for Covid-19 infection on May 26.
  • One is linked to the Case 63806 cluster. Case 63806 is a 49-year-old male Singapore Permanent Resident who works as a manager at Success Consultancy Pte Ltd. His pooled test result came back positive for Covid-19 on May 27 and he developed a fever on the same day.

The remaining cases announced today include six imported cases who arrived from Belgium, India, Indonesia, the U.S., and the Philippines.

Here's an overview of the local Covid-19 situation in the past weeks:

11 cases discharged

11 more cases of Covid-19 infection have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities.

In all, 61,434 have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities.

There are currently 222 confirmed cases who are still in hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, and three are in critical condition in the intensive care unit.

339 are isolated and cared for at community facilities.

These are those who have mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still test positive for Covid-19.

Case 63382, a 95 year-old female Singaporean, has passed away from complications due to Covid-19 infection on May 30.

33 have passed away from complications due to Covid-19 infection.
