Covid-19: TTSH cluster grows to 40, 2 new patients in ICU not linked to the cluster

All five cases in the community reported today are linked to the TTSH cluster.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) confirmed 17 new cases of Covid-19 in Singapore on Monday (May 4).

This brings the total number of cases in Singapore to 61,252.

Among the new cases, five are in the community and 12 are imported.

Five linked to TTSH cluster

Five of the community cases reported today are linked to the Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) cluster. This brings the total number of cases in the TTSH cluster to 40.

All the new community cases reported today were detected from MOH's testing of patients, visitors and staff at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) or their close contacts, and had already been placed on quarantine.

Three of the cases — Cases 62801, 62807, and 62808 — had visited TTSH Ward 9D between Apr. 18 to Apr. 28.

The fourth (62803) is a pharmacist working at TTSH, while the fifth (62816) is a patient warded at TTSH Ward 9D.

Case 62801

Case 62801 is a 53 year-old female Singaporean who visited TTSH Ward 9D on multiple occasions between Apr. 18 to Apr. 28. She was contacted by MOH on Apr. 29 at night to self-isolate, and placed on quarantine on Apr. 30.

She is asymptomatic, but was tested for Covid-19 on May 2 during quarantine, and her result came back positive the next day.

Her serology test result is pending. She received her first dose of Covid-19 vaccine on Apr. 17.

Case 62807

Case 62807 is a 45 year-old female Philippines national who visited TTSH Ward 9D on Apr. 25.

She was placed on quarantine at a dedicated facility on Apr. 30.

She developed a runny nose, sore throat and fever on May 2 and reported her symptoms.

She was tested for Covid-19 on the same day, and her result came back positive the next day. Her serology test result is pending.

Case 62808

Case 62808 is a 39 year-old female Indonesia national who visited TTSH Ward 9D between Apr. 21 and Apr. 22.

She was placed on quarantine at a dedicated facility on Apr. 30.

She developed a sore throat and fever on May 3 and reported her symptoms, and was tested for Covid-19 on the same day.

Her result came back positive but her serology test result is pending.

Case 62803

Case 62803 is a 25 year-old male Singaporean who works as a pharmacist at TTSH, and had interacted with patients and staff at Ward 9D on Apr. 20.

He was last at work on Apr. 28. He developed a mild runny nose on Apr. 30 which resolved on the same day.

On May 1, he was tested for Covid-19, and placed on quarantine in the early morning of May 3.

His result came back positive on the same day. His serology test result is pending.

He received his first dose of Covid-19 vaccine on Feb. 25, and the second dose on Mar. 18.

Case 62816

Case 62816 is a 64 year-old male Singaporean who had been warded in TTSH Ward 9D on Apr. 26, and was transferred to the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID) on Apr. 27.

He was tested for Covid-19 on Apr. 28 and Apr. 30, and his results came back negative.

On May 2, he developed a cough and fever and was tested again for Covid-19 the next day. His result came back positive on May 4.

His serology test result is pending.

On May 4, it was announced that Tan Tock Seng Hospital would be ceasing admissions to contain the Covid-19 cluster.

12 imported cases

MOH also reported 12 imported cases on May 4.

They have all been placed on Stay-Home Notice (SHN) upon arrival in Singapore.

Among the imported cases:

  • One (Case 62800) is a Singaporean and two (Cases 62806 and 62813) are Singapore Permanent Residents who returned from India.
  • Three (Cases 62804, 62810 and 62814) are Dependant’s Pass holders who arrived from the Maldives and Nepal.
  • One (Case 62819) is a Long-Term Visit Pass holder who arrived from Malaysia.
  • One (Case 62817) is a Student’s Pass holder who arrived from Japan.
  • One (Case 62802) is a Work Pass holder who arrived from the Philippines.
  • Three are Work Permit holders who arrived from Bangladesh, Indonesia and Malaysia, of whom one (Case 62805) is a foreign domestic worker.

17 more discharged

17 more cases of Covid-19 infection have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities.

In all, 60,823 have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities.

There are currently 131 confirmed cases who are still in the hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, and two are in critical condition in the intensive care unit.

The two patients in the ICU not linked to the TTSH cluster, according to MOH.

267 are isolated and cared for at community facilities.

A total of 31 cases in Singapore have passed away from complications due to Covid-19 infection.

Seven new locations

MOH also regularly updates a list of public places visited by confirmed cases for more than 30 minutes during their infectious period.

There are seven new locations reported today. Here are the new locations:

  • Sheng Siong Supermarket (233 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3) on Apr. 25, 9:10am to 9:40am
  • Causeway Point (1 Woodlands Square) on Apr. 26, 5:35pm to 8pm
  • Velocity@Novena Square (238 Thomson Road) (Huluruk Myeon House) on Apr. 26, 6:10pm to 7:40pm
  • Newton Food Centre (500 Clemenceau Avenue North) on Apr. 28, 6:45pm to 7:15pm
  • Mustafa Centre (145 Syed Alwi Road) on Apr. 29, 1:35pm to 3pm
  • Jubilee Square (61 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 8) (COLLIN’S) on Apr. 29, 7:25pm to 8:15pm
  • Haniffa Pte Ltd (118 Dunlop Street) on Apr. 30, 5:20pm to 6:15pm
