Times Bookstore staff, SP student among 6 unlinked community cases reported on May 20

The Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed 41 new cases of Covid-19 in Singapore as of 12 pm on May. 20, 2021.

This brings the total number of cases to 61,730.

There are 27 new cases of locally-transmitted Covid-19 infection, of whom 21 are linked to previous cases.

Six of them are unlinked.

Amongst the locally transmitted cases, 15 had already been placed on quarantine earlier.

Unlinked cases

Case 63466

  • 59-year-old female Singaporean who works at Mary Fashion and Trading
  • Developed cough on May 15 and sought medical treatment at a General Practitioner (GP) clinic on May 17
  • Tested for Covid-19 on May 18, result came back positive on May 19
  • Serology test result is pending
  • Received her first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine on Mar.21 and the second dose on Apr.11.

Case 63479

  • 49 year-old female Singapore Permanent Resident who is a homemaker
  • Developed a fever, cough, sore throat, body aches and loss of taste and smell on May 14 but did not seek medical treatment until May 18
  • Test result came back positive on May 19
  • Serology test result is pending

Case 63480

  • 41-year-old male Singaporean who works as a customer service personnel at Times Bookstore, had not gone to work since Apr. 30
  • Developed a fever on 17 May, and a runny nose and body aches the next day
  • Sought medical treatment at GP clinic on May 18, test result came back positive on May 19
  • Serology test result is pending

Case 63482

  • 54-year-old female Malaysian national who works at Seagate Singapore International Headquarters Pte Ltd.
  • Developed a runny nose on May 16, and anosmia on May 17
  • Sought medical treatment at a GP clinic on May 19, where she tested positive for her antigen rapid test (ART), as well as her polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test on the same day
  • Serology test result is pending
  • Received her first dose of COVID-19 vaccine on Apr.16 and the second dose on May 9.

Case 63487

  • 19-year-old female Malaysia national who is a student at Singapore Polytechnic and had last gone to school on May 15
  • Developed a fever on 19 May, and sought medical treatment at a GP clinic on the same day, where she tested positive for her ART and PCR test on the same day
  • Serology test result is pending

Case 63497

  • 69-year-old male Singaporean who works as a cleaner employed by Weishen Industrial Services Pte Ltd
  • Developed a fever on May 17, and a runny nose, cough and body aches the next day.
  • Sought medical treatment at a polyclinic on May 19, where he was tested for COVID-19 His test result came back positive on May 20
  • Serology test result is pending
  • Received his first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine on Mar.16 and the second dose on Apr. 6

Summary of new cases linked to previous cases

There are 21 new community cases linked to the previous Covid-19 cases.

Of these 21 cases:

  • Four cases are linked to the Changi Airport Terminal 3 cluster, including two students at Madrasah Al-Ma’arif Al-Islamiah.
  • One case is linked to the Learning Point tuition centre cluster.
  • One case is linked to the Changi Prison Complex cluster
  • Three cases are linked to the Jin Tai Tong Food Industries cluster.
  • One case is linked to the Sms Infocomm cluster
  • Six cases are linked to the Case 63357 cluster.  Case 63357 is an IT engineer at AbbVie Operations Singapore Pte Ltd.
  • Five cases are linked to other previously confirmed cases, with three already quarantined and two detected through surveillance.

Imported cases

There are 14 imported cases today.

Amongst the 14 cases, 10 are Singaporeans and PRs who returned from India and Indonesia, while four cases arrived from Germany, Sri Lanka, Nepal and the Philippines.

46 more cases discharged

46 more cases of Covid-19 infection have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities.

Here are more local Covid-19 statistics:

  • 61,229 have fully recovered and have been discharged
  • 240 cases are still in hospital, four are in the ICU
  • 229 are isolated at community facilities
  • 32 have passed away from complications due to Covid-19 infection
