The Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed four more cases linked to the Changi Airport Terminal 3 cluster, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 100, as of 12pm on May 20, 2021.

The cluster at the Changi Airport is currently the largest active cluster in Singapore.

First case emerged on May 5

The cluster first emerged after an 88-year-old cleaner deployed at Terminal 3 tested positive for Covid-19 on May 5.

He is Case 62873, an 88 year-old male Singaporean who is employed by Ramky Cleantech Services Pte Ltd as a cleaner deployed at Changi Airport Terminal 3.

Three days later, three more workers at the airport tested positive. This subsequently grew to four new cases the next day.

On May 12, the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) and Changi Airport Group (CAG) announced that Jewel and all Changi Airport passenger terminal buildings would be closed to the public for two weeks from May 13 to May 26.

Members of the public who had visited Changi Airport Terminal 3 from May 1 are also being offered free Covid-19 testing at selected testing stations.

According to the MOH, this is to pre-emptively mitigate any potential risk of wider, undetected community transmission.

Details of the cases today

The four new cases in the Changi Airport Terminal 3 cluster are already quarantined:

Case 63459 is a 63 year-old male Singaporean who is employed by Certis Cisco as an aviation security officer at Changi Airport Terminal 3. He is asymptomatic, and was detected when he was tested on May 16 as part of Rostered Routine Testing (RRT).

On the same day, as he had been identified as a family member and household contact of Case 63347, he was placed on quarantine. His pooled test result came back positive for Covid-19 on May 17. An individual test was done on May 18, and his test result came back positive for Covid-19 infection on May 19.

Case 63464 is a 43 year-old female Singaporean who works as an administrative personnel at Glory Ship Management Pte Ltd and had last gone to work on May 7.

She is a family member and household contact of Case 63146 and was placed on quarantine on May 12. She was tested for Covid-19 on May 15 and her test result came back negative on the same day. She developed a cough and sore throat on May 18, and was tested for Covid-19 when she reported her symptoms. Her test result came back positive on May 19.

Case 63473 is a 14 year-old female Singaporean who is a student at Madrasah Al-Ma’arif Al-Islamiah and had last gone to school on May 7. She is a family member and household contact of Cases 63347, 63459 and 63474.

As she had been identified as a close contact of Case 63347, she was placed on quarantine on May 16. She developed a cough on May 18 and was tested for Covid-19 when she reported her symptom. Her test result came back positive on May 19.

Case 63474 is an 8 year-old female Singaporean who is a student at Madrasah Al-Ma’arif Al-Islamiah and had last gone to school on May 4. She is a family member and household contact of Cases 63347, 63459 and 63473.

As she had been identified as a close contact of Case 63347, she was placed on quarantine on May 16. She is asymptomatic and was tested for Covid-19 on May 18 during quarantine. Her test result came back positive on May 19.
