United States President Donald Trump was back on the campaign trail on Monday, Oct. 12, his first since he was diagnosed with Covid-19.
At Trump’s Florida rally, where many attendees were seen unmasked, he was dismissive about his battle with Covid-19.
He told the crowd of about 7,000 people at the outdoor event that he felt strong and better than before, and that he wanted to make his treatment plan available to everyone.
Florida has been hit hard by Covid-19.
The president had taken a myriad of treatments when he was hospitalised.
“We are going to take whatever the hell they gave me and we are going to distribute it to hospitals,” he said.
Trump’s rally was the first he has had since he and the First Lady were diagnosed with Covid-19.
Kiss the crowd
Trump also told the rally attendees that he could kiss everyone in the crowd, many of whom were not wearing masks.
Many were also packed tightly together.
“They say I’m immune. I feel so powerful,” Trump told the crowd in Sanford.
“I’ll walk into that audience, I’ll walk in there, kiss everyone in that audience. I’ll kiss the guys and the beautiful women.”
Florida key state
Florida is a key battleground state.
Polls show that Joe Biden, the Democratic nominee, is leading Trump.
Trump won the state in 2016.
The president claimed his rallies are the true barometer of his support, while bashing the polls and Biden.
“These are the real polls, right? The other guy gets out there and they work and work and work and 30 people show up,” Trump said, referring to Biden, who has stuck to stringent safety guidelines at his events.
Trump's physician's memo
Trump's physician released a memo on Monday saying the president had recently tested negative on consecutive days and was no longer contagious.
The memo did not state that Trump is immune to Covid-19.
The president and his administration have been dodging questions about when Trump last tested negative for the coronavirus.
The White House physician, Sean Conley, said in his memo that a number of measures were used to test Trump.
Trump did not take the more conclusive polymerase chain reaction test, but he had tested negative on antigen tests instead.
Conley also did not say on which days Trump tested negative.
