Sentosa & Ikea Tampines among 7 new locations visited by Covid-19 cases, 1 patient now in ICU

11 new cases were confirmed today.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) has preliminarily confirmed 11 new cases of Covid-19 in Singapore on Tuesday (Oct. 6).

This brings the total number of cases to 57,830.

Of the 43 patients in recovering from the virus in hospital, one has now been placed in the intensive care unit and is in critical condition.

Two new community cases

There are two new cases in the community.

Both were identified as household contacts of previously confirmed cases and were placed on quarantine on Oct. 3.

Case 57970 is a 7-year-old student at a private school. He last attended school on Sep. 18.

Case 57971 is a 42-year-old homemaker.

Four imported cases

There are also four imported cases from with travel history to Japan, India, Nepal, and Indonesia.

They were all placed on stay-home notice upon their arrival in Singapore.

Five dormitory cases

Amongst the five cases residing in dormitories, one had been identified earlier as a contact of previous cases and had already been quarantined to prevent further transmission.

The remaining four cases were detected through surveillance testing.

Seven New locations

MOH regularly updates a list of public places visited by confirmed cases for more than 30 minutes during their infectious period.

Seven new locations were reported today:

  • Sep. 24, Universal Studios Singapore (8 Sentosa Gateway)
  • Sep. 24, Resorts World Sentosa, Hard Rock Cafe (8 Sentosa Gateway)
  • Sep. 26, BearyFun Gym @ Katong Swimming Complex (111 Wilkinson Road)
  • Sep. 26, newEcon Top Choice Supermarket (84 Bayshore Road)
  • Sep. 27, Giant Hypermart Tampines (21 Tampines North Drive 2)
  • Sep. 27, Ikea Tampines (60 Tampines North Drive 2)

This is the latest list of locations visited by confirmed cases within the last two weeks:

Those who had been identified as close contacts of confirmed cases would already have been notified by MOH.

As a precautionary measure, those who had been at these locations during the specified timings should monitor their health closely for 14 days from their date of visit.

They should see a doctor promptly if they develop symptoms of acute respiratory infection (such as cough, sore throat and runny nose), as well as fever and loss of taste or smell, and inform the doctor of their exposure history.

MOH also said that there is no need to avoid places where confirmed cases of Covid-19 have been. The National Environment Agency will engage the management of affected premises to provide guidance on cleaning and disinfection.

15 more cases discharged, one in ICU

15 more cases of Covid-19 infection have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities.

In all, 57,612 have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities.

There are currently 43 confirmed cases who are still in hospital.

Of these, most are stable or improving, though one patient's health has deteriorated and they are now in critical condition in the intensive care unit.

148 are isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are those who have mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still test positive for Covid-19.

27 have passed away from complications due to Covid-19.
