In her congratulatory note on Instagram, Pan said that the family has been looking forward to Wee's commissioning. "I could even imagine myself shedding emotional tears of joy at the ceremony!" she wrote.

"Today, with much [hard work] and perseverance, he had finally managed to attain one of his life goals!"

Unfortunately, due to the Covid-19 outbreak, Pan and the family weren't able to attend the ceremony. Instead, it was streamed online.

"Nonetheless,as I watched the new rank being pinned up for him online, I was still deeply moved and could not contain my tears. I guess this what it means to be a parent," said Pan.

She also wrote about how she was "deeply moved by his passion" and how she will always support him.

"Right now, I just want to tell my son, 'Thank you, officer Wee! We are deeply moved by your passion and resilience in overcoming the odds thrown at you. I am soooooo proud of you! Do continue to do us and Singapore proud. We will always support you!'"

According to 8 Days, Wee aspired to be a pilot and had considered signing on.

Pan previously said that she would be immensely proud of her sons if they choose to serve the nation.

If Wee were to sign on, he would be following in the footsteps of his father, local actor Huang Shinan. Huang used to be a regular before he joined showbiz.
