The Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed an additional 40 cases of Covid-19 in Singapore as of 12 pm on Sep. 1.
This brings the total number of cases to 56,852.
One case in community, unlinked
There is one case in the community today who is currently unlinked.
Case 56899 was detected as a result of MOH's Rostered Routine Testing of workers in the construction, marine and process sectors who are living outside the dormitories.
She was asymptomatic, and was detected through proactive testing. Epidemiological investigations of the case are in progress.
All the identified close contacts of the case have been isolated and placed on quarantine.
Seven imported cases
Amongst the seven imported cases, three (Cases 56916, 56915 and 56917) are Singaporeans / Permanent Residents who returned to Singapore from India on Aug. 16, and the U.S. on Aug. 18.
Two cases (Cases 56913 and 56918) are Work Pass holders currently employed in Singapore who arrived from Bangladesh and Brazil on Aug. 16.
Another case (Case 56911) is a Dependant’s Pass holder who arrived from Bangladesh on Aug. 16.
The remaining case (Case 56919) is a Short-Term Visit Pass holder whose parents are Singapore Permanent Residents.
All of them had been placed on 14-day Stay-Home Notice (SHN) upon arrival in Singapore, and had been tested while serving their SHN at dedicated facilities.
32 cases residing in dormitories
Amongst the 32 cases residing in dormitories, 22 had been identified earlier as contacts of previous cases, and had already been quarantined to prevent further transmission. They were tested during quarantine to determine their status.
The remaining 10 cases were detected through surveillance testing.
91 cases discharged
91 more cases have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities. In all, 55,749 have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged.
There are currently 86 confirmed cases who are still in hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, and none are in the intensive care unit.
990 are isolated and cared for at community facilities. These have mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still test positive for the virus.
So far, 27 have passed away from complications due to Covid-19 infection.
Nine new locations visited
MOH regularly updates a list of public places visited by confirmed cases for more than 30 minutes during their infectious period.
There are nine new locations reported today.
- Da Long Yi Hot Pot at Orchard Central (181 Orchard Road) on Aug. 21, 8:10pm to 9:45pm
- Don Dae Bak Restaurant (35 Kreta Ayer Road) on Aug. 22, 8:40pm to 12:45am
- Eco-Shop@Bedok (206 Bedok North Street 1) on Aug. 23 from 10:55am to 11:40am
- McDonald’s at Pasir Ris Sports Complex (120 Pasir Ris Central Street 3) on Aug. 23 from 1:15p to 2:15pm
- S-11 AMK 530 Food House (530 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10) on Aug. 23 from 7:20pm to 8:30pm
- Yuan Yuan Café (26 New Upper Changi Road) on Aug. 28 from 9am to 10am
- Zhang Liang Mala Tang (3 Pickering Street) on Aug. 29 from 2:50pm to 1:50pm
- Mei Heong Yuen Dessert (63-67 Temple Street) on Aug. 29 from 4pm to 4:45pm
- Xiao Long Kan Hotpot and Starbucks at Bugis Junction (200 Victoria Street) on Aug. 30 from 6:40pm to 9:30pm.
Those who had been identified as close contacts of confirmed cases would already have been notified by MOH.
As a precautionary measure, people who had been to these locations during the specified timings should monitor their health closely for 14 days from their date of visit.
