Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) officers arrested five males between the ages of 24 and 33 on Monday (Sep. 7) for suspected drug activities.

An estimated total of about S$360,000 worth of "Ice" — or crystal methamphetamine — and cannabis, as well as offensive weapons and cash amounting to S$19,865, were seized.

Three Malaysians arrested in three locations

According to a news release, on Sep. 7, CNB officers raided a residential unit in the vicinity of Woodlands Street 32 and arrested a 25-year-old Malaysian man.

A search was conducted in the unit, and a packet containing about 1g of "Ice" and S$15,350 of cash were recovered.

At the same time, a separate group of CNB officers raided another residential unit in the vicinity of Pasir Ris Street 12, where they arrested another 25-year-old Malaysian man.

In a follow-up operation conducted on the evening of Sep. 7, CNB officers were deployed in the vicinity of Kranji Loop to conduct an observation on a 31-year-old Malaysian man who was believed to have left a package in the surrounding area.

A total of about 1,000g of "Ice" and about 3,000g of cannabis were later recovered by CNB officers. The man was subsequently arrested at Woodlands Checkpoint.

Two Singaporeans arrested, one put up a violent struggle

In yet another follow-up operation, CNB officers arrested two Singaporeans aged 24 and 33, in the vicinity of Woodlands Street 32.

According to the news release, the 24-year-old suspect put up a "violent struggle" when officers tried to arrest him, so "necessary force" was used to subdue him.

About 1g of cannabis was found on him, along with cash amounting to S$4,515. A subsequent search of his vehicle further recovered two packets containing about 1g of "Ice".

A parang (knife) was also recovered from him, and a karambit (curved knife shaped like a claw) was later found in his vehicle.

Investigations into the drug activities of all the suspects are ongoing.

The total amount of 1,002g of "Ice" seized is sufficient to feed the addiction of about 570 abusers for a week, while the total amount of 3,001g of cannabis seized is sufficient to feed the addiction of about 430 abusers for a week, said CNB.
