The owner of Artbox told Khaosod that the permanent closure was a long time coming.

She had hoped to keep the market running for as long as she could, but the withdrawal of vendors as well as the lack of tourists meant it became impossible to keep it open.

However, the owner still hopes that they can still continue Artbox in its original form, which is basically markets held a few times a year, according to Khaosod.

The current market that is closing had been their permanent lodging since 2019.

Artbox has been a yearly affair in Singapore since 2017, running for three editions before the Covid-19 pandemic hit this year.
