Dashcam footage of two cars colliding on Keppel Road has been making its rounds online in the past few days.

According to video footage, a white Maserati can be seen merging in front of the dashcam car and then braking hard, resulting in the dashcam car hitting the Maserati.

Videos of the incident, which, according to the dashcam timestamp, occurred around 2:48am on Jul. 18, can be seen here.

What happened

In the video, the white Maserati can be seen filtering into the dashcam car's lane and slowing down, before hitting its brakes suddenly. The dashcam car then ends up rear-ending the Maserati.

Immediately, four individuals exit the Maserati and begin arguing with the driver of the dashcam car and taking photos of the accident.

The driver of the Maserati then approaches the other car to confront the driver, swearing at him angrily and demanding that he take responsibility for the incident as he had hit the car in front of him.

The dashcam car driver replies, in a mix of Mandarin and English, "You cannot 'jam brake' like that".

However, the Maserati driver says, in Hokkien and Mandarin, "You've hit a Maserati, it's very serious," and "If you hit a car, it's your mistake".

When the dashcam car driver tries to offer his opinion, saying, "That's not how it is", the Maserati driver tells him not to disagree, and that he should instead talk about the incident to "TP", presumably referring to the Traffic Police.

After the dashcam car driver says, "Don't be like this", the Maserati driver replies, "You want to discuss? Get out of the car. Get out of the car and we'll discuss."

After about one-and-a-half minutes, three of the individuals return to the Maserati and drive off. It is unclear from the video footage where the fourth individual went.

Prior to the incident, footage shows the dashcam car passing by the Maserati and pulling up at a traffic light behind a white van with After Life Funeral Planner marked on it.

Funeral planning company threatens legal action

Facebook page SG Road Vigilante also identified the Maserati as belonging to After Life Funeral Planner.

In the comments of the video posted by SG Road Vigilante, the funeral service company threatened anyone posting false allegations about the company or the driver with legal action.

However, some Facebook users were sceptical about this threat:

Have lodged police report against online harassment

Responding to Mothership queries, After Life Funeral Planner stated that the Maserati is not a company vehicle, and that the incident has been handed over to their lawyer.

The company shared that they have received a number of calls, messages, and online attacks, and said that they have filed a police report against the harassment.

After Life Funeral Planner also stated that they did not file a police report about the accident, because there were no injuries, but that they have filed an insurance claim.

When Mothership approached the police for confirmation about the accident, they stated that they do not have any records of the incident, based on the time, date, and location.
