Earlier this month, Uniqlo Singapore announced that it will be launching its line of AIRism masks in Singapore on Aug. 24.

When it was first launched in Japan, it was welcomed with long queues in stores.

Long queue outside Uniqlo Jem

And it seems like this is also happening in at least one Uniqlo store in Singapore.

On the morning of the launch, long queues were seen outside Uniqlo's outlet in Jem.

According to a Mothership reader, a queue began to form when she arrived at the mall at around 10am.

The store officially opens at 11am.

When she returned at 10:30am to queue outside the outlet before it opened, she noted that there were around 50 people in front of her.

Ticket to reserve masks

Prior to purchasing the masks, customers were required to collect a ticket to reserve them.

Uniqlo staff were also seen ensuring customers were keeping a safe distance and checking the temperature of those in the queue.

Here's what the packaging looks like:

High traffic volume online

The masks seem to be in demand on its online store as well.

According to the website, some customers may face difficulty connecting to the website as it is currently experiencing high traffic volume.

Quick-drying mask

The AIRism mask consists of three layers, including a nano-filter that blocks out 99 per cent of bacteria and pollen, and a layer with UV protection factor of 50+.

According to Uniqlo, the mask is machine washable and can be washed for up to 20 times.

The mask also purportedly boasts a layer that is "free of the stiffness or thickness" of other non-woven or cotton masks and is thus more breathable too.

A pack of three masks retails for S$14.90.
