The programme is in collaboration with online pet store Kohepets, and aims to help those whose incomes have been affected by the Covid-19 crisis.

Besides cats and dogs, other pets like rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, and birds are also included.

Each household can apply for up to three animals, while community caregivers and rescuers can apply for up to five animals.

Individuals should only send in one application.

Applications have started on Aug. 4, and the entire campaign is expected to run for three to six months.

However, the period will be reassessed as needed, based on the community's demand.

S$50,000 has been set aside for the cause.

Additionally, an online fundraising campaign has been launched to provide additional funds.
