If you’re looking to pick up a new skill for free, be sure to check out this year’s SkillsFuture@CDC 2020: The Future of You, which will take place online from Aug.10 to 16, 2020.

Look forward to a variety of webinars that you can attend from the comfort of your own home, such as virtual workshops, Spotlight Series, Masterclass Series, Inspiration Series and Learning Series to boost your confidence and skills.

Here’s a breakdown of what you can expect:

Spotlight Series

During the Spotlight Series, three celebrity gurus will teach attendees various skills:

Suhaimi Yusof will be sharing some techniques on editing clips using Adobe Premiere Pro.

Details: Aug. 10, 2pm to 3pm.

Nikki Muller, a TV presenter will be sharing tips on how to conquer job interviews.

Details: Aug. 15, 2pm to 3pm.

Jaime Teo, an actress and host, will be teaching attendees how to bake a mango chiffon cake in an hour long baking class.

Details: Aug. 16, 2pm to 3pm.

 

Masterclass Series

During the Masterclass Series, attendees will gain insights to essential skills that are required to remain employable and competitive from five industry experts.

For example, Lucas Tok, a lecturer at Singapore Polytechnic will share information regarding digital marketing. Dr Timothy Hsi, the founder of Abundanz will share insights on training and adult education.

Learning Series

Learn alongside the celebrities and witness their learning journeys. Discover what new skills they picked-up during COVID-19:

Wang Lei, who has recently become a popular live streamer on Facebook, will share his journey in preparing for the future economy with SkillsFuture in the digital workplace. Do note that this programme will be conducted predominantly in Mandarin.

Jacelyn Tay will share her coding journey by going through the basics of coding using Microsoft’s Makecode platform.

Details: Aug. 11, 8pm to 9pm.

Irene Ang will run through the basics of Zoom and familiarise herself with how to make use of it to participate in activities.

Details: Aug. 12, 8pm to 9pm.

Tosh Zhang shares his intimate experiences of first jobs and his foray into Fashion Retail as an entrepreneur.

Details: Aug. 13, 8pm to 9pm.

Sujimy Mohamad shares his perspective as a business owner on what works at job interviews, and why it is important to be able to relearn and unlearn for mid-career job seekers.

Details: Aug. 14, 8pm to 9pm

There will also be two Inspiration Series, where industry leaders such as Aik-Phong Ng, the Managing Director of Fave Singapore, will give an inspirational talk.

37 workshops to attend

There will be as many as 37 virtual workshops that you can attend from home. You can find a variety of workshops to help you in your job search, learn new skills or gain insights on health and fitness.

One such workshop is the Food for Healthy Aging workshop, which will highlight foods that will support healthy aging. 

It will also cover topics on processed foods and convenient meals, and how they may cause chronic degenerative diseases early in life.

With the Covid-19 pandemic in full swing, it is more important now than ever to safeguard our health and adopt healthy eating habits.
