Two PMDs, device parts of a PAB and mobile phones were seized as well.

A video, showing a group of youths taking to the roads on personal mobility devices (PMDs) and power-assisted bicycles (PABs) after dark, went viral last month (July 13).

The video, edited with hip-hop music, garnered over 2,300 shares on Facebook.

The youths received backlash online for putting other motorists' safety at risk and disregarding the rules and regulations.

The car plate number of the motorcycle is visible in the video and the riders were not putting on their face masks as well.

Eight men and two women arrested for dangerous riding

Eight men and two women, aged between 16 and 25, have been arrested for their suspected involvement in a case of dangerous riding, the police announced in a news release on August 3.

The police stated that they were informed on July 13 of the video showing the riders travelling with a motorcyclist along Sheares Avenue.

Following investigations, the traffic police established their identities and arrested them between July 17 and 20.

Two PMDs, device parts of a PAB and mobile phones were seized, according to the news release.

The police and the Land Transport Authority (LTA) are investigating into offences of dangerous riding and riding a personal mobility device on a road amongst others.

For dangerous riding, first-time offenders could face a jail term of up to 12 months, a fine of up to S$5,000, or both.

For riding a PMD on the road, first-time offenders could face a jail term of up to three months, a fine of up to S$2,000, or both.
