This year’s National Day Parade (NDP) will be closer to home in many ways.

Instead of the usual parade at the floating platform at Marina Bay, this year’s morning parade will happen at the Padang and the evening show will take place at The Star Performing Arts Centre.

NDP2020 in the heartlands

While we are not able to have large gatherings in the thousands, we can catch the Red Lions, mobile column, aerial flypasts and firework displays, from the comfort of our homes and our neighbourhood.

For those who do not want to step outside of the home, the activities will be broadcast live over television and radio channels.

Here a full list of the locations of where and when you can catch the following NDP2020 activities:

Red Lions

Here are the two heartland locations where the Red Lions will be landing at around 9:00am (if the weather conditions are favourable):

  • Open field along Toh Guan Road, near to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital
  • Open field along Sengkang East Road, near Sengkang General Hospital

State Flag Flypast

Following the flypast at the Padang, the State Flag will be flown across Singapore via two routes, from about 10:30am to about 11:25am:

  • The Eastern Route will begin at the Padang at 10:35am, and will fly along the southeastern and northeastern coastlines of Singapore.
  • The Western Route will begin at the South of Singapore at 10:30am, and will fly along the southwestern coastline and then the western areas of Singapore.

Roar of Unity

4. As a tribute to frontline fighters and everyday Singaporeans, six F-15SG fighter jets will fly in a delta formation across Singapore in four passes, beginning at the Padang at 10:45am and ending at Paya Lebar Airbase at 11:15am.

Mobile Column

The mobile column will bring assets from the Singapore Armed Forces, the Singapore Civil Defence Force and the Singapore Police Force, into the heartlands from around 10:00am to around 1:00pm.

About 100 frontline fighters and essential workers will be aboard the mobile column assets as they make their way throughout Singapore.

While the mobile column will not be stopping, Singaporeans are encouraged to wave the flag from their homes to salute frontline workers for their spirit and resilience during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Here are the five indicative routes through Singapore:

Maritime Sailpast

The maritime sailpast, comprising 13 vessels from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, Police Coast Guard, Republic of Singapore Navy and the Singapore Civil Defence Force, will be conducted from 10:50am to about 11:15am, and can be viewed from the Marina Barrage and the Marina South Pier.

Remember to practise safe distancing

To manage crowds and ensure safe distancing, NDP2020 organisers announced that there will be limited vehicular and pedestrian access to above-mentioned areas where activities are held.

Members of the public who attend the activities are reminded to wear face masks, remain in groups of five and less, and maintain one-metre safe distancing between each other.

In addition, members of the public who are participating in the Anthem and Pledge Moments in public spaces are discouraged from singing and reciting along out loud so as to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
