No reports of S'poreans affected by Beirut blast: MFA

Singaporeans who require consular assistance are advised to contact the MFA Duty Office.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has announced that there have been no reports of Singaporeans affected by the blast in the coastal city of Beirut in Lebanon, on Tuesday (Aug. 4).

According to MFA, they have reached out to the Singaporeans in Lebanon who are e-registered, and has ascertained their safety.

Singaporeans who require consular assistance are advised to contact the MFA Duty Office.

"The Singapore Government is saddened by the tragic loss of lives in the explosion in Beirut, Lebanon on August 4, 2020. Our condolences go out to the families of the victims and the people of Lebanon during this difficult time," said MFA.

According to CNN, at least 100 people were killed and 4,000 wounded in the massive explosion that caused up to S$5 billion worth of damage.
