A 47-year-old man, Ng Soon Hee, has been sentenced to four weeks' jail for impersonating a police officer and touching a 26-year-old woman's breast while drunk, The Straits Times (ST) reported.
In addition, Ng also had a charge of insulting the victim's modesty, by making an obscene comment about her breast, taken into consideration.
The incident had happened on March 22, at Block 173, Gangsa Road.
Ng was working for SMRT at that time.
Accused approached the victim and her boyfriend
According to court documents seen by Mothership, the victim and her boyfriend had been drinking beer at a sheltered walkway near Block 173 at 1.30pm when they heard Ng shouting at them, and saw him approaching them.
Ng then continued to shout at the couple, stating that they were making too much noise and identified himself as a police officer, while holding out his SMRT pass which was attached to his SMRT shirt.
When the victim and her boyfriend attempted to take a closer look at his pass, he used his hand to cover it and added that they should not be drinking alcohol after 10.30pm.
Touched her breast after commenting that it was "very big"
Ng then suddenly looked at the victim and commented, "Wah your breast very big ah!"
In response, the victim's boyfriend confronted Ng, while the victim came between both of them to calm them down.
As for Ng, he first tried to push the victim out of the way by pushing his forearm against her breast, then used his right hand to cup her breast while pushing her aside.
The victim then told her boyfriend to call the police.
While he did so, Ng repeatedly hurled vulgarities at him and challenged him to a fight.
Throughout the entire encounter, both the victim and her boyfriend noted that he reeked of alcohol.
Ng consented to a blood test following his arrest on March 23, which revealed that he was drunk.
Prosecution: Tarnished the reputation of the police
Deputy Public Prosecutor Ho Jiayun said Ng had tarnished the reputation of the police by impersonating a police officer while drunk, ST reported.
Ng was also highlighted by Ho as being "aggressive and intrusive" towards the victim.
Meanwhile, Ng's lawyer, Choo pointed out that the accused had been cooperative in police investigations.
For using criminal force on the victim by touching her breast while drunk, Ng could have been subjected to a jail term of up to three months, or a fine of up to S$1,500 or both.
As for pretending to be a police officer, he could have been jailed for up to two year, fine, or been subjected to both.
