Videos of a male personal trainer touching the rear of a female trainee was widely condemned after it was circulated on social media by a female personal trainer who witnessed the incident.

Male trainer denies allegations

Since then, the male trainer, who goes by the name David Mesut, has apparently denied allegations of misconduct.

Mesut told AsiaOne that his client had consented to the physical contact.

He also said that he would be filing a police report over the "false accusations" and would be obtaining legal advice.

Mesut added that the female client had shown him the video of the exercises, and the pair then had discussions about it.

He said that the female trainee did not object to "any aspects of the video or the fact that there was physical contact".

"Right from the beginning, I had told her about physical contact on a particular part of her body and she said that she understood and therefore, consented," he told AsiaOne.

Mothership reached out to the gym, Apeiro Life, where the incident took place.

However, the gym was unable to disclose Mesut's contact details.

Without a police report reference number, it cannot be verified if a report has been lodged by Mesut.

What happened

The video first became viral after a female personal trainer, Cheryl Loh, shared it to her Instagram to publicly call out Mesut for his actions.

The video showed the back view of the female trainee was who carrying out exercises, and Mesut repeatedly touching her rear with his hand.

Loh reached out personally to the female trainee in the incident, and screen shots of their conversation were shared on the same Instagram post.

In her messages to the female trainee, Loh informed the victim that the type of physical interaction she witnessed was not normal.

The female trainee then revealed that she had repeatedly told the male personal trainer not to touch her, but she said she was told he wanted "to check my muscle".

Apeiro gym has since responded to the incident, stating that they have "taken action" against the trainer.
