Standing up for her staff.

Ho Ching, CEO of Temasek Holdings, has taken to Facebook on Aug. 16 to hit back at people who doxxed her staff in the name of exposing unfair hiring practices, but without providing the necessary evidence to back up their claims.

Her feisty post started with calling out the ones she disagreed with.

Ho, who is chief of the investment company headquartered in Singapore with a multinational staff of 800 people, wrote: "Is it acceptable to tarnish individuals, and dox them with photos and false claims?"

"Nope, that is a cowardly act of hate."

Her post comes two days after the investment company owned by the government of Singapore issued a response to what it called a "divisive, racist campaign" that also involved "false claims" targeting its employees from India.

A cursory check on Facebook revealed that at least one such post about the Temasek staff is still publicly visible.

This comes after Facebook had removed some of these posts, after they were flagged by Temasek for supposedly breaching community guidelines on hate speech.

Complain via proper channels

Ho's post also challenged those who disagree with the hiring practices of her company to voice out via the proper channels, such as the Ministry of Manpower.

She wrote: "If we have a grievance, go report to MOM, to the board of the company, or to their regulator."

However, her message is for people not to be fooled by those who want to split opinion and turn one group against another.

"Let’s not be fooled by anyone who tries to stir up racial biases that lurks beneath everyone of us."

"It’s a very short distance between hating one nationality to one race, and very soon, anyone who is different."

Remain relevant more important

Ho's admonishment also called on locals not to be complacent and to keep up with the new skills that the world demands.

"Better still, let’s reskill, upskill, to remain relevant in a fast changing world," Ho wrote.

She also called on people to adapt to new conditions: "But it requires each of us to understand that we must constantly strive to be better and to adapt."

She also wrote that it is better to be ready for the new world to come because the old world will not come back again.

Ho also said it is not possible for Singapore to cut itself off from the rest of the world given how it has been plugged in since colonial times.

Singapore, she implied, is so connected to the rest of the world and its place cannot be assured, unless there are things it can offer.

"We have always found a place at the table serving the region and the world," Ho wrote.

She added: "That are skills and ideas we can offer to the world, just as we can pick up skills and ideas from others in the world."

Second post

Ho's first post was followed by a second related post two hours later, where she wrote about how some 400 of her staff in the Temasek Singapore office have been stepping up to fight Covid-19 in a myriad of ways, from carrying out swabs to procuring equipment and organising food supplies.

Ho wrote: "They came forward to volunteer on top of their day jobs. No one checked their race, religion, or passports because we are OneTemasek team."
