GrabFood rider, 29, in ICU with broken ribs & leg, punctured lungs after accident near Jalan Kayu

He is now in a stable condition.

A GrabFood rider sustained serious injuries after an accident on Aug. 4.

Accident between PAB and car

Singapore police told Mothership they were first alerted to the accident at around 9:35pm.

The 29-year-old male rider was on a power-assisted bicycle (PAB), and was involved in an accident with a car at the junction of Sengkang West Way and Jalan Kayu.

The rider was unconscious when he was conveyed to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.

Police investigations are ongoing.

Sustained a host of injuries

According to Stomp, the rider's friend said that he is currently in a stable condition at the hospital's Intensive Care Unit.

The friend added that the rider was seriously injured, and suffered from a burst spleen, two punctured lungs, a broken ribcage, a fractured shoulder, one broken leg and a blood clot in the brain.

The rider will be undergoing another operation on Aug. 6 to "check for further internal bleeding or injuries".

The friend also elaborated more on the rider's family situation, saying that the rider's father has dementia, and that his mother is "already quite old".

In response to queries from Mothership, Grab said they are aware of the incident, and are reaching out to provide support to the rider and his family.
