The Ministry of Health (MOH) has preliminarily confirmed an additional 242 cases of Covid-19 in Singapore as of 12pm on Aug. 7.

This brings the total number of cases to 54,797.

The vast majority are work permit holders residing in foreign worker dormitories who were tested during their isolation or quarantine period.

These are amongst the last few cases from dormitories which have a higher prevalence of Covid-19.

Minister for Education Lawrence Wong said yesterday (Aug. 6) that the Multi-ministry Task Force (MTF) is on track to clear the dormitory cases by Aug. 7.

However, Director of Medical Services Kenneth Mak said that the first few days beyond Aug. 7 will still continue to reflect the testing that took place for workers in dormitories.

As for community cases, there is only one, who is a Singaporean.

There are also six imported cases, all of whom have been placed on Stay-Home Notice upon arrival in Singapore.

Further updates will be shared by MOH this evening.
