The Ministry of Health (MOH) confirmed 175 new cases of Covid-19 infection today (Aug. 9).
This brings the total number of cases to 55,104.
No new locations have been added to the list of places visited by Covid-19 cases during their infectious period, i.e. 14 days.
This is the second day in a row that no new locations have been reported.
Cases residing in dormitories: 171
171 of the new cases are Work Permit holders residing in foreign worker dormitories.
The Taskforce has completed the testing of all workers in the dormitories on Aug. 7, and some of the test results are still being processed.
23,500 workers, who are still serving out their isolation facilities, will be tested when their isolation periods end.
Imported cases: 3
There are three new imported cases, all of whom had been placed on Stay-Home Notice (SHN) in dedicated facilities upon arriving in Singapore.
They had been tested while serving their SHN.
Case 55143 is a Singaporean who returned to Singapore from India on July 25.
The remaining two - cases 55138 and 55142 - are Work Pass holders who are currently employed in Singapore, who arrived in Singapore from India on July 26.
Cases in the community: 1
There is one case in the community today who is currently unlinked.
Case 55169 was tested after she sought medical treatment for prolonged acute respiratory infection (ARI) symptoms.
Epidemiological investigations of the case are in progress.
All of her identified close contacts have been isolated and placed on quarantine and will be tested at the start and end of their quarantine period.
Discharged cases & cases in care facilities
332 more cases of Covid-19 infection have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities.
In all, 48,915 have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities.
There are currently 135 confirmed cases who are still in hospital.
Of these, most are stable or improving, and 6,027 are isolated and cared for at community facilities.
There are currently no patients in the intensive care unit.
