The Ministry of Social and Family Development has extended ComCare assistance for existing ComCare beneficiaries, whose assistance is ending between August and October 2020, by another six months.

ComCare is a fund under the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) that provides social assistance to low-income individuals and families.

There are around 6,000 households eligible for this second round of automatic extension.

MSF Minister Masagos Zulkifli talked about the extension in a Facebook post.

He explained that for this automatic extension, existing beneficiaries would not have to come down to Social Service Offices to renew the assistance. However, if their circumstances have changed and they require more help, they could still approach the relevant officers.

A similar automatic extension was carried out for some months back for 6,000 households whose ComCare assistance was ending between May to July, 2020.

Masagos also urged those who know, or come across, families or individuals who require support to call the ComCare hotline.

"If you come across individuals or families who require support, you can call the ComCare hotline at 1800-222-0000 or approach the nearest SSO"
