It is unclear what happened to the priest.

A livestreamed Holy Mass in Beirut, Lebanon, captured the exact moment in which stained glass debris fell on a priest in church, as a result of the port explosion which rocked the city on August 4.

A video of the scene was uploaded by Steven Nabil, a television correspondent for U.S.-based Alhurra news.

The affected church in question was Paroisse St Maron Baouchrieh, which put up a Facebook post showing the effects of the explosion, with its stained glass windows shattered and blown in, along with what appears to be window frames.

However, the post does not appear to have addressed what happened to the priest.

Priest continued with Mass despite initial trembling

In the video, the priest can be seen conducting the Mass while waving a thurible, when the church begins to tremble, resulting in the lights and the audio for his chanting being cut off.

However, the priest continues, until there is an explosive sound, followed by the stained glass raining down in the form of debris, presumably caused by the explosion's shockwave.

At this point, the priest runs, only for one of the pieces to land on him.

It is unclear what happens after this point as the camera also falls to the ground, showing bits of debris. A woman can also be heard shouting in the background.

Not the only church affected

Paroisse St Maron Baouchrieh does not appear to have been the only church damaged by the blast.

Separately, another church, the Saint George Orthodox Catheral of Beirut, also put up a Facebook post showing the damage of the explosion.

In this case, much of the church's wooden furniture and doors appears to have been blown in by the explosion.

Lebanon has a significant Christian minority, standing at about 33.7 per cent of the population as of 2018, including Maronite Christians, Catholics and Eastern Orthodox Christians.
