The Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed an additional 242 cases of Covid-19 in Singapore on Aug. 7.
This brings the total number of cases to 54,797.
New locations visited by Covid-19 cases
Four new locations have been added to the list of places visited by Covid-19 cases during their infectious period.
These include:
- Jul. 27, 12pm to 1:30pm, ABC Brickworks Market and Food Centre (6 Jalan Bukit Merah)
- Aug. 1, 5:30pm to 8:30pm, Tang Tea House (414 Jurong West Street 42)
- Aug. 1, 11:40pm to 1:40am, Golden Village Jurong Point (1 Jurong West Central 1)
- Aug. 2, 9:40pm to 10:10pm, Sheng Siong Supermarket (200 Woodlands Industrial Park E7)
Breakdown of new cases
Cases residing in dormitories: 235
235 of the total new cases are Work Permit holders residing in dormitories.
These are amongst the last few cases from dormitories which have a higher prevalence of Covid-19.
According to the press release, the inter-agency task force has completed testing of all workers in the dormitories, except for a few standalone blocks in the dormitories that serve as quarantine facilities.
The workers in these blocks will be tested once their isolation ends.
Earlier in the day, Minister Lawrence confirmed that the testing of all migrant workers in the dormitories will be completed by the end of today.
However, the number of new cases could remain high in the subsequent few days, depending on the test results.
Imported cases: 6
There are also six imported cases, all of whom have been placed on Stay-Home Notice upon arrival in Singapore.
Amongst the six cases, there is one Singaporean (54877) and one Permanent Resident (54872) tested positive upon returning to Singapore.
Another two (Cases 54873 and 54874) are Work Pass holders who are currently employed in Singapore.
The remaining two (Cases 54761 and 54771) are a Dependent's Pass holder and a Long-Term Visit Pass Holder respectively.
Cases in the community: 1
There is only one new case in the community, which is currently unlinked.
He is a male Singaporean, aged 67.
The case was detected due to enhanced community testing to test individuals who present a doctor with an acute respiratory infection.
Further investigations of the case are in progress.
281 more cases discharged from hospitals
281 more cases of Covid-19 have been discharged from hospitals.
In all, 48,312 have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities.
There are still 124 confirmed cases who are still in the hospital, but most are stable or improving. There are no cases in the intensive care unit.
6,334 are isolated and cared for at community facilities.
27 have passed away from complications due to Covid-19 infection.
