Singapore's healthcare system is not letting up in its efforts to fight Covid-19.
On July 17, Singapore General Hospital (SGH) shared on Facebook about its new isolation ward, named Ward@Bowyer.
This new ward will not only admit patients with Covid-19, but also patients with other infectious diseases.
Built on a section of an open-air carpark, it will add 50 isolation units to the hospital's existing 35 rooms. It started admitting patients on July 14, according to the Straits Times.
You can see the photo album below:
The isolation ward covers 3,200 square metres. Each isolation unit measures 2.5m (height) x 2.3m (width) x 5.6m (length), and is a negative pressure single room with en suite toilet and shower facilities. It also has the regular facilities of other wards, like nurses' stations and doctors' on-call rooms.
And what's more, SGH managed to construct this new ward during the Circuit Breaker period in just 50 days.
Here's a pretty cool time-lapse video showing how the ward was built.
