Tin Pei Ling, the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for MacPherson Single-Member Constituency (SMC) shared on her Facebook page about the plight of a elderly man in her constituency.

Providing aid for elderly man and son

Tin first mentioned the man's story in the Constituency Political Broadcast on July 5.

In her speech, she said that the 80-year-old man had cried as he had lost his job during the Covid-19 pandemic, and was worried about being unable to provide for his 10-year-old son.

In a subsequent post, Tin provided an update on the situation of the man, whose surname is Lee.

Tin revealed that she had first heard of Lee's problems several weeks ago.

Since then, she had provided him with financial assistance to tide him and his family through these trying times, and to support his son's education as well.

According to Tin, Lee is now much more "relaxed", and would wake up early every day to prepare his son for school.

He would then leave the house to get some food for himself before heading home to watch TV.

Tin said:

"He was watching 武侠片 (martial arts films) when I met him again. I can tell Uncle Lee is very proud of his son and has great hopes for him."

She then ended off by wishing the pair well, adding that she will be there to support them.

Tin will be facing off against People's Power Party's Goh Meng Seng for this year's General Election.

During the broadcast, Tin touched on topics of improving elderly care, continuing to aid lower income families, and sustainability.
