On the eve of Cooling-off Day, PM Lee shared a unique encounter he had with a resident on July 7.

Sent the card to the resident's father 36 years ago

While on a walkabout at Teck Ghee, PM Lee met a man who had a rather specific relic of the past: PM Lee's candidate card from 1984.

That year was when PM Lee conducted his first election campaign in Teck Ghee Single Member Constituency (SMC), before it was absorbed to form Ang Mo Kio Group Representation Constituency (GRC) in 1991.

The candidate card, which bears the visage of a very much younger and bespectacled PM Lee, was apparently first sent to the resident's father 36 years ago.

The card was kept by the resident's father all these decades, and is now in the resident's hands when his father passed away several months ago at the ripe age of 103.

GE2020 has been an "unusual campaign"

PM Lee also shared some final thoughts before Cooling-off Day, when Singaporeans take some time to reflect on the nine-day campaigns and policies touted by the various political parties, before making their vote on July 10.

PM Lee reminded Singaporeans of the slate of 27 fresh faces the People's Action Party (PAP) had fielded for this election, saying it was his duty to not only "keep Singapore intact through this crisis", but to hand it over to the next generation.

These new candidate, he said, "will represent you and walk with you, as we go through the difficult months and years ahead".

He also described GE2020 as an "unusual campaign" due to the pandemic.

Despite the lack of physical rallies though, discussions were still held via online rallies.

PM Lee urged voters to "think about what is at stake" int he coming days.

"When you vote, you will be choosing the team that you trust, to lead us through this grave crisis, and on to a brighter future."

He then thanked all candidates for fighting hard and for those who would be on duty on Polling Day for ensuring the safety of all voters.

Finally, he ended off by expressing his appreciation to his supporters and volunteers for sticking by him throughout this journey.

"Lastly, to my supporters and volunteers who have done so much to look after residents in Ang Mo Kio, and to Singaporeans who have supported me all these years in politics: thank you for sharing my journey. I hope you will elect my PAP team to continue serving you, to secure Our Lives, Our Jobs, Our Future."
