Sportslink has folded.

Sportslink, which sold sporting goods and apparel from various international brands, started out as Sports Interlink, a store in Queensway Shopping Centre.

A homegrown brand, it was founded in 1983 by Lim Kau Tee, Straits Times reported.

The company was registered as a sole proprietorship with the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (Acra) as Sportslink in 1987, and Sports Link Pte Ltd (SLH) was later registered in 1994.

The chain subsequently expanded to heartland malls in the 1990s. At its peak, it had over 30 outlets.

As of January this year, the brand only listed nine outlets all over the island in malls such as Clementi Mall, Kovan Mall and Northpoint City.

ST reported that the chain wound up on July 3 after accumulating debts to a "substantial number" of creditors.

These debts includes employees who are owed a month's salary, according to Farooq Mann, the court-appointed liquidator.

After the Circuit Breaker, Sportslink announced the reopening of their stores in a Facebook post on June 22:

As of June 22, the brand also said that their online store is in the midst of maintenance, urging customers to visit their physical stores instead.
