10 people will be charged in court on Wednesday (July 22) for not complying with safe distancing measures.

The five men and five women are aged between 19 and 33.

On June 28, the police received a noise pollution complaint at Blk 42 Beo Crescent around 12:50am.

The police found that 13 people had gathered at a fitness corner in that area, with portable tables and chairs being set up. Bottles of liquor were also found.

Of these 13 people, 10 will be charged with violating restrictions on leaving their place of residence without a valid reason and for violating the prohibition on social gatherings of more than five persons.

They will also be charged with consuming liquor at a public place during the prescribed no-public drinking period.

Of the remaining three individuals, the police, in consultation with the Attorney-General’s Chambers have administered a 12-month conditional warning to a 14-year-old male for violating restrictions on leaving his place of residence without a valid reason and for violating the prohibition on social gatherings.

Two others from the group will be separately dealt with for breaching the Covid-19 (Temporary Measures) (Control Order) Regulations 2020, as they are also currently being investigated for other unrelated offences.
