After days of hot, hot and hot weather, Singapore entered impossibly cooling mode on July 9, 2020 Cooling-off Day by sheer coincidence.

Island-wide temperatures have fallen to between 25°C and 26°C at 1pm on Thursday, a feat considering temperatures soared to 34°C during this time of the day for the past few days.

According to the Meteorological Service Singapore, temperatures across the island were relatively chilly, with the west more cooling than the central and eastern parts of the island.

At 7:54am, Pasir Panjang even hit 22.9°C.

The cooling weather can be attributed to the prevailing Southwest Monsoon persisting in July 2020.

Low-level winds over Singapore and the surrounding region are forecast to blow mostly from the southeast or southwest, and to blow from the east on a few days.

Rain fell shortly after midnight on Cooling-off Day, with the western and southern parts of Singapore in splashy mode for an hour or so.

The drizzle continued in various parts throughout the night.

For the afternoon, overcast skies and rain is expected:
