Singaporeans who wish to hang the state flag this National Day can get one at the counter when you collect your NDP's Singapore Together pack.
Here's a quick guide to the use and display of the state flag for those who are planning to do so.
When can you put out the state flag?
You can display the state flag from now till September 30, 2020.
The National Heritage Board (NHB) states that the display of the state flag is an expression of resolve and optimism. This symbol of solidarity can hopefully help lift spirits during this difficult period with Covid-19.
How should the flag look?
According to NHB, the state flag should "always be treated with respect, and used in an appropriate and dignified manner".
The crescent and stars should be on the top left position when seen by a person facing the flag.
It should be not displayed below any other flag, emblem or object.
Can I display the flag on my car?
Yes, the flag can be displayed on any vehicle, other than a hearse, during the National Day period.
Other non-commercial use of the flag
During this period, the flag can be used on decals, stickers, posters, other visual images and can be incorporated as part of a costume or attire.
However, there should not be any words or graphics superimposed on the design of the flag.
What do I do with my flag if it's worn-out or torn?
If the state flag that you have is torn or old, it should be packed into a sealed black trash bag before being disposed of.
Torn and worn-out flags should not be displayed.
