Shake Shack Orchard opens on Aug. 5 with takeaway bar, tropical outdoor area

Whoo.

Shake Shack is opening its third outlet in Liat Towers on Aug. 5, 6pm.

It takes over American diner OverEasy, beside Starbucks.

Tropical theme

The al fresco space takes its inspiration from the Singapore Botanic Gardens for a tropical vibe.

Foliage, white marble, cherry wood, brass fixtures, and flagstone-style tiling are part of the ambience at the outdoor sitting area.

Pleasant on a breezy afternoon, or at night.

Local artist Danielle Tay lends her artistry to the walls, which showcases Singapore's landmarks.

It was raining when we visited, unfortunately.

The store itself is little more nondescript, and reminds us of the Jewel Changi outlet.

Orchard Road exclusives

Three new drinks and two new concretes (ice cream) will be available at Liat Towers.

From left to right: hand-shaken lemonade, cold brew, sparkling lemonade.

The drinks are:

  • Cold brew by Common Man Coffee (S$5.30)
  • Hand-shaken lemonade, a blend of lychee, blueberry, mango, and lemonade (S$5.30)
  • Sparkling lemonade, a blend of passionfruit or raspberry, soda water, lemonade (S$5.30)

For dessert, the Pie-Oh-My concrete (S$7.50) is a collaboration with Tarte by Cheryl Koh, and features vanilla custard blended with Tarte's treacle pecan pie.

On the other hand, Orchard Traffic Jam (S$7.50) consists of vanilla custard blended with blueberry lavender jam, lemon curd, shortbread, and a topping of fresh blueberries.

The latter is much sweeter, so we'd recommend sharing, or only going for it if you are the sort who takes 80 - 100 per cent sugar in your bubble tea.

Takeaway bar

Another draw — and the first of its kind for Shake Shack internationally — is the Baby Shack concept right outside its store.

There you can find the complete menu, from drinks to burgers and concretes.

The accessible bar means that those who prefer takeaways can now do so with ease, instead of navigating in-store crowds.

You can still order for dine-in at the Baby Shack, though.

The digital ordering kiosks are another factor that will hopefully help to cut down queues as well.

The outlet houses a total of four kiosks, in a designated area beside the counters.
