Having a staycation in S’pore can be as good as going overseas. Here’s why.

There is nowhere else in Singapore where you will find a theme park, an aquarium, restaurants and luxury hotels all within an island resort.

Two weeks before the Circuit Breaker period, I was looking forward to my staycation at Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) during the first week of April.

I was ready to bring swimsuits and a lot of sunscreen to spend two days on the island, mainly hanging out by the hotel poolside and enjoying good food from the numerous restaurants within the resort.

However, two days before the planned staycation, the booking was cancelled as the Covid-19 outbreak worsened in Singapore.

Nevertheless, I’m looking forward to my next staycation as the restrictions are now more relaxed in Phase 2.

Here’s what makes me look forward to the next staycation at Resorts World Sentosa.

Away from the crowd, preferably with a sea view

When I’m planning for a staycation, I gravitate towards one within Resorts World Sentosa so that I would be able to get away from the hustle and bustle of the Central Business District.

Being close to nature is a very important part of every holiday I plan for.

Not only does nature provide a sanctuary to calm overstimulated minds, green spaces encourage physical activity, reduce air and noise pollution and improve immune function, according to research.

Currently, the following hotels are filled with lush greenery, and have promotional rates for staycations by Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) starting at S$328 (with savings of over S$270) from now until August 16 for these accommodations, whilst stocks last.

  • Hotel Michael,
  • Equarius Hotel and
  • Beach Villas

The following hotels are also now open for staycations:

  • Crockfords Tower,
  • Ocean Suites and
  • TreeTop Lofts

While the staycation package deals end on August 16, you can book your stay from anytime from now until October 16.

In Universal Studios Singapore, let loose and enjoy experiencing the thrills once again with your favorite rides. Plus, you will be able to meet and greet with selected characters.

At the same time, you can visit the Michelin-star and celebrity chef restaurants, located within Resorts World Sentosa to pamper yourself with sumptuous meals.

While you might not be able to travel overseas, you can visit table65 for European fare or Osia Steak and Seafood Grill for an Aussie-style meal with your loved ones.

It’s not every day that you can find such an island resort in Singapore, which gives you access to fun attractions, mouthwatering meals and comfortable accommodations.

Let’s not forget cleanliness and safety

While we might be itching to go on a holiday, some of us will still worry about the health and safety of our loved ones.

This is why RWS has a rigorous three-step disinfection procedure for all their hotel rooms, which includes the following steps:

Step 1: Use a misting machine with the latest electrostatic spray technology to eliminate 99% of bacteria and viruses

Step 2: Deep cleaning of all touchpoints using hospital-grade disinfectant

Step 3: Final treatment of disinfectant mist spray

To further enhance air safety within RWS hotels, HEPA and UVC filtration systems are used to kill any virus that passes through the UVC light rays and HEPA air filters.

This allows for 95 per cent of particles (which are even as small as 0.3 microns) to be removed from the hotel premises.

In addition, all room key cards are UV sterilised and luggage is immediately disinfected upon arrival in the driveway.

When checking in or out of the hotel, the check-in counters are now equipped with acrylic shields to ensure safe distancing between staff and guests.

These enhanced safety and hygiene measures were added after RWS received its SG Clean accreditation before the circuit breaker.
