The case of a deadly hit-and-run incident in 2012 involving Red Bull heir, Vorayuth Yoovidhaya, has concluded.
Charges against Yoovidhya has been dropped for, according to BBC, unclear reasons.
In 2012, Yoovidhya had allegedly hit a policeman, Wichian Klanprasert, with his grey Ferrari. The policeman, who was on a motorbike, was reportedly dragged for several metres.
According to CNN, Yoovidhya was then charged with "drunk driving, negligent death and committing a hit and run".
However, Yoovidhya did not answer eight legal summons to face the aforementioned charges.
His lawyers gave some reasons, including "overseas work commitments and illness", as to why he could not attend court during these eight times.
An arrest warrant was secured five years later for Yoovidhya. If found guilty for the offence of driving recklessly causing death, Vorayuth could have been jailed for up to ten years.
The latest report on the incident however suggests that all charges against the Red Bull heir have been dropped.
According to CNN:
"A letter sent to Yoovidhya at his home in Bangkok by Thonglor Police Station and seen by CNN says: "Office of the Attorney General have decided to acquit Mr. Vorayuth Yoovidhya on all charges." National Police Commissioner "has not objected the decision" and "we have proceeded to revoke arrest warrant." The document didn't elaborate."
