Right after Nomination Day proceedings, various political parties started putting up campaign posters and publicity materials all around the contested constituencies.

This includes the Progress Singapore Party, which will be contesting for a total of 9 GRCs and SMCs, including West Coast GRC and Chua Chu Kang GRC.

PSP posters torn down

However, the team was greeted with disappointing news on the night of June 30.

In a Facebook post by PSP's secretary-general Tan Cheng Bock, he said that PSP posters that were placed all over Chua Chu Kang GRC had been torn down.

Team not deterred

This incident has not deterred the team, said Tan.

Francis Yuen, Tan Meng Wah, Abdul Rahman and Shaun Choo form the four-member team running for Chua Chu Kang GRC.

"In the heat of campaigning, our emotions can get carried away. But this is only Day 1 and we still have a long way to go. Let’s remember to keep cool heads."

He also took the opportunity to thank PSP supporters and volunteers and reminded them to be "respectful".

"Let’s also remember to always be calm, polite and respectful, despite a difference of opinion."

Incumbent MP for Chua Chu Kang GRC Gan Kim Yong also responded to the matter via its Facebook page:

The Facebook post has also been shared to PSP's official Facebook page.
