PAP's Sitoh Yih Pin wins Potong Pasir SMC with 60.69%

Singapore People’s Party Jose Raymond garnered 39.91% of the votes.

The People's Action Party (PAP) candidate Sitoh Yih Pin has triumphed in Potong Pasir SMC for the third time in a row.

Sitoh won against Singapore People’s Party Chairman Jose Raymond, with 60.69 per cent of the vote.

Raymond scored 39.91 per cent of the vote.

Of the 18,785 votes, 278 were rejected.

Although it is Raymond's first time contesting in the SMC, he has been walking the ground for years.

Until 2011, Potong Pasir SMC was the stronghold of widely-respected veteran opposition politician Chiam See Tong for 27 years.

Sitoh finally wrested the SMC from Chiam when the latter moved out to challenge Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC, and left his wife Lina Loh to stand in his stead.
