The Elections Department (ELD) released a statement on July 10 giving an update on the general queue situation at polling stations in Singapore.
The ELD stated that it has observed "longer than usual queues" at some polling stations since the polls were opened at 8am.
The department added that this is partly due to the safe distancing measures put in place to ensure safe voting.
As of 10am, 350,000 voters have cast their votes. That is about 13 per cent of registered voters.
Here are the queue situations observed in various parts of Singapore:
At Dunearn Sec Sch, Hong Kah North GRC
At Chong Pang, Nee Soon GRC
At Siglap CC, Marine Parade GRC
At Macpherson CC
A Facebook post by The Online Citizen also shared photos of long queues at polling centres, including Ngee Ann Primary School and Bendemeer Primary School.
Voters urged to keep to the assigned time bands
The voting time-bands from 8am to 12pm are reserved for senior voters aged 65 and above to minimise interaction with younger voters.
ELD urges younger voters, who are not accompanying any seniors, to keep to their assigned voting time-bands after 12pm.
Voters can also check the queue situation via this website before heading down to the designated polling stations.
According to the website, a number of polling stations are crowded as of 11:30am, with over 60 voters in the queue.
The website will show an estimation of the number of voters at the station like this:
