The Multi-ministry Task Force (MTF) announced the easing of restrictions for key life events, namely weddings and funerals, as part of a calibrated resumption of activities in Phase Two.

Up to 50 for weddings, receptions may resume with safety precautions in place

From Aug. 4, 2020, marriage solemnisations and weddings will be allowed to take place with up to 50 people, up from a maximum of 20 since June 19.

This includes the couple as well, but excludes the solemniser and vendors.

The maximum capacity of 50 will apply to venues such as places of worship, HDB common areas and other external venues.

Solemnisations at home, the Registry of Civil and Muslim Marriages (ROM/M) Building, and designated areas at the National Museum of Singapore operated by ROM will continue to take place with up to 10 persons, as these venues tend to be smaller in size.

Each wedding couple will be allowed to hold one wedding reception, including food and drinks, with up to 50 attendees including the couple throughout the event, in venues that are

permitted to serve food and drinks, such as restaurants and hotels.

All other wedding-related activities including customary rites and ceremonies are required to adhere to prevailing gathering size limits, up to five visitors to each household, or up to five persons in a group outside the home.

Attendees must wear masks at all times, no self-service buffets allowed

All attendees are to wear masks at all times, with the exception of the bride and groom who may wear face shields instead. Masks may be removed momentarily for photo-taking.

Self-service buffets are not allowed for the wedding reception, and no consumption and sale of alcohol will be allowed after 10:30pm.

For contact tracing purposes, all guests are advised to check in to the event using SafeEntry. Guests are also encouraged to download TraceTogether before attending the event.

Funerals and wakes allowed up to 30 people

From Aug. 4, 2020, up to 30 persons may be present at funeral venues at any one time, subject to the venue’s capacity limit based on safe management principles, to facilitate more family members and friends to pay their last respects.

This is an increase from a maximum capacity of 20 since the beginning of Phase Two on June 19.
