A video, which involved Education Minister Ong Ye Kung having a conversation with a primary school boy on Sembawang, has been taken down.

Ong is the anchor minister for the People's Action Party (PAP) Sembawang GRC team, which also includes Lim Wee Kiak, Vikram Nair, Poh Li San, and Mariam Jaafar.

The video was shared to Ong's page in the afternoon on July 2.

In a Facebook post later in the day, Ong said that they have taken down the video.

He also addressed the issue saying that they were informed by the authorities that the video is not in line with electoral rules.

Ong apologised for any inconvenience caused.

According to the Parliamentary Elections Act, primary school and secondary school students are not permitted to take part in any election activity.

"Election activity" includes activity that promotes the electoral success for one or more identifiable political parties, candidates or groups of candidates.
