The Ministry of Health (MOH) has preliminarily confirmed 183 new cases of Covid-19 infection as of 12pm on Monday, July 6.

This brings the total number of cases to 44,983.

The vast majority of the new cases, said the ministry, are Work Permit holders residing in foreign worker dormitories.

Based on investigations so far, 23 new cases today reside outside of dormitories.

A total of 20 of the new cases are Work Pass holders, and three are Singaporeans/Permanent Residents.

From MOH's preliminary investigations, of the 23 cases, five are close contacts of earlier cases and had already been placed on quarantine.

Another seven are migrant workers who reside together at a temporary accommodation arranged by their company. These cases were identified from MOH's periodic screening of workers in essential services who are living outside the dormitories, and some may be past infections.

Three of the new cases are imported cases, and had all been placed on Stay-Home Notice upon arrival in Singapore.

Epidemiological investigations are ongoing for the other cases.

Further updates will be shared by MOH in the evening.
