34-year-old helper arrested for suspected murder of woman, 95, in Upper Serangoon

The police are investigating the case as murder.

On July 6, a 95-year-old woman was found dead along Recreation Road off Upper Serangoon Road.

The police said they were alerted to a stabbing case at about 1:50pm.

The elderly woman was found lying motionless in a residential unit. The crime scene is a two-storey semi-detached house.

Paramedics pronounced her dead at scene.

"Preliminary investigations revealed that both the victim and the suspect are known to each other," said the police.

On July 7, Straits Times reported that a 34-year-old domestic helper from Myanmar has been arrested in connection with the case.

The police said they have classified the case as murder.

The suspect is expected to be charged in court on Wednesday (July 8).
