*Update: According to The Straits Times, Khaw Boon Wan's office has confirmed that he has dengue.*

Transport Minister Khaw Boon Wan has been admitted to the isolation ward after experiencing a fever.

According to Khaw's Instagram, he had just finalised the negotiations for the Johor Bahru–Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) when his temperature shot up.

Khaw assured everyone that this was most likely not due to a Covid-19 infection, but said that it could very well be dengue as his area is a hot zone.

Khaw has also done the swab test. He also revealed that he had dengue before and it was "not pleasant".

However Khaw, who recently announced his retirement from politics, still managed to find the whole predicament somewhat amusing, noting:

"I started my career in the Health Ministry. After 42 years, I would not expect to exit the stage in bed as a patient!"
